Drawn in from the first page

I was given a free ebook version from the author for an honest review and all I have to say is it was very good. I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't put it down. I am now on the sequel to it, Charmed Again, and find it is just as good.

The story plot is good versus evil but with a twist. There is a good love story, because what good book doesn't have that. I won't reveal the end but it is worth reading. Every little twist and turn in the book made me not able to put it down and I found myself staying up way longer than I should just to see what happened next.

Lindy Zart is now my new favorite author!

I got this book a couple weeks ago for my Kindle. It took interesting enough, so I put it up towards the top of my "TO READ" list (some books end up on the list for years). Finally, about a week after I got it, I decided to read it. It helped that I was heckled by Tawnya. I read the first paragraph and sighed - convinced I just got myself into some silly teen drama that I'd have to force myself to read. I'll admit, I put off reading the book for a couple days because of it. ...but then I started it. Actually started it.

One word to explain what happened once I passed page one: DAMN. That's right, I said it. I had to force myself to put the book down a few times, because I swear I stopped breathing in certain parts. (Lindy Zart is obviously trying to kill me, just want you all to know this)

All and all, it was a great story. Truly it was. I was able to get into the characters, and I liked them. They felt real.

Still Charmed!

I received this book as a gift in February by the author and I still find myself thinking about it. I so enjoyed all the characters, Taryn, Creed and Luke. The character Taryn was entertaining and I loved her spunkiness and comical side. The other two otherworldly characters Creed and Luke had their own agenda which included Taryn and the battle between good and evil ensues. Charmed was a constant page turner and was hard to put down. Once I finished reading Charmed, I quickly purchased the second installment Charmed Again! I highly recommend this paranormal novel. P.S., I developed a soft spot for Creed.

Another Kennedy family saga, this one focusing on the women, from Irish forebears to feminist Rory Kennedy, daughter of Robert and Ethel. For Kennedy aficionados, much of the material is familiar. In 1849, immigrants Bridget Murphy and Patrick Kennedy met on the boat from Ireland. Nine years after their marriage, she was a widow with four children who worked as a domestic servant, then bought and ran a variety store. In some ways, for the women of the Kennedy family, Bridget's story is as inspiring as it gets. From Rose, who married Bridget's grandson, Joe, to some two dozen grandchildren, author Leamer (King of the Night, 1989) tells a story that is as sad as it is tragic, with Rose as its center. In the grip of the Roman Catholic Church--which saw the role of a woman as mother and moral center--Rose changed from an ambitious, lively, curious girl to a wife and mother whose emotions were rigidly controlled and whose mechanisms of denial so highly refined that she could accept her husband's lovers--notably Gloria Swanson--into her home. She passed much of that legacy on to her daughters Kathleen, Eunice, Patricia, Jean. Open displays of tenderness were reserved for Rosemary, the retarded child, who was lobotomized and institutionalized out of the public eye. Kathleen is captured as the American who enchanted English society until her death in a plane crash; Eunice as the most successful in building a life of her own. Pat and Jean were not so lucky. The prickly paths of the daughters-in-law--Jackie, Joan, and Ethel--are included here as well. Recruiting its members systematically since the end of the 1930s, the BDM encompassed practically all German girls aged ten to fourteen by allowing them latitude for their own development while assigning them responsibilities that gradually integrated them into the National Socialist State. Historian Dagmar Reese illuminates the different experiences of these young women through two case studies: one of the BDM's work in the petty-bourgeois milieu of a Protestant garrison town, and the other immersed in the working-class milieu of Berlin's red Wedding neighborhood. Growing Up Female in Nazi Germany is the English translation of a major work of German history, one in a list of such works published in Michigan's field-defining series, Social History, Popular Culture, and Politics in Germany. The rarely told story of girls in Hitler Youth

The English title is slightly misleading in that the entire focus of this book is the League of German Girls. It makes clear the great attraction of the organization, one which leaves the participants with mixed feelings even today. Not only was the League a place for idealistic youth, it gave girls an opportunity unknown elsewhere in Nazi Germany to develop leadership skills. It offered poorer and rural girls opportunities for entertainment and travel they would have been unlikely to experience otherwise. It also served the Nazi goal of diminishing the influence of parents over their children. Even so, this book shows that participation and amount of political indoctrination could vary by locale. It is fortunate that this work was translated into English so that more readers can understand this important facet of Nazi history.

It was very dry, with some stories from individuals about what it was like for them growing up in that area. It had a lot of stats, and listed rules, and how they were covered. Not quite what I was looking for, but still interesting.

Love is not enough

This is not just a manual for those who have set their wedding date; it should be required reading for anyone who has begun to date. It helps to have a guide to know what to look for. It contains discussions on: love is not enough, 2 stages of romance, like mother-like daughter-like father- like son, solve disagreements, apologizing, forgiveness, toilets are not self-cleaning (this part should be required for getting a marriage license), handling money, sexual fulfillment, marrying into the family, spirituality, personality and behavior.
There are questions for talking it over at the end of each chapter and an appendix that really should be at the beginning on developing a healthy dating relationship.
Gary Chapman speaks as a spiritual advisor, a marriage counselor and from his own experience.
This book will give anyone a guide and a basis for discussions and thoughts on what is needed for a compatible and good marriage

Insightful and engaging and totally necessary!

As a pastor who regularly takes couples through pre-marital counseling, I am thrilled to see this book. I'm about half-way through it, but already I've read enough to order a copy for each of my daughters to read. Chapman's writing style is engaging, instructive, and transparent (he shares lessons learned from his own marriage). From this point forward, I will be strongly recommending this book to every couple I work with. Oh, and for those who are not religious, this book still works. Chapman talks about faith issues, but in a way that doesn't put faith at the forefront. A non-religious person will still find this book incredibly helpful.

Excellent Book.

I'm a 30 year old male about to propose to my girlfriend. I picked up this book on a whim. I cannot overstate how much I have learned from this book. I started highlighting things that I thought were important to me or that really hit home or made sense. I wrote notes in the margin. I ordered a copy for my soon to be fiance and she is going to do the same thing with her copy. Then we'll switch so we can both learn from each other. Anyone that wants to be a better partner, regardless of weather or not that includes marriage, should pick this book up and read it front to back. I really can't say enough good things about this book.
