This is one of the worst technical books I've ever read

This is one of the worst technical books I've ever read. Pitiful tutorials like adding the Hyper-V role (1.) Click Server Manager, 2.) Click Roles and Features, etc. etc.). And Powershell? While this book says that Powershell plays a key role on the 410 exam, there are maybe 6 Powershell commands in the whole book. The rest are legacy Windows command line commands.

This is a complete waste of money. The only good thing is that I did not purchase the kindle book I was initially considering that is a 3 book combination (for exams 410, 411, and 412). I'm going back to what I should have done initially, Pluralsight or CBTNuggets videos.

Not very good as a study guide

Except for a brief section at the end of each chapter, the book doesn't ever really reference the exam or tell you "you need to know this for the test", or give you ways of thinking about, or memorizing any information so you can absorb it. It doesnt provide any "watch out for..." type info or give you any sense of pitfalls to avoid or things that need to be studied more indepth or get extra emphasis. It reads more like a pocket reference for sys admins, not like a study guide. It's detailed on how to do certain tasks, but I dont feel that it is written to address the concerns of someone about to take a test. In addition, the path to the free online supplemental materials is not a valid path.

I am returning the book for something better.

I have had struggles understanding SAP Purchasing processes in the past and was looking for a book to provide a solid introduction. This book fit the bill. The step-by-step examples were tremendously helpful and I now have a good understanding of how to create vendor master records and purchase requisitions, as well as how to convert requisitions to purchase orders. I highly recommend this book.

Book two misses the target.

I am disappointed in book two of the "Secret apocolypse" and even thought it was a struggle to finish I do think its worth a read. To me it feels like the author lost focus just after the beginning of the book and regains it just before the ending. I know its fiction but there are aspects I do not like such as a 19 year old black ops specialist that seem to have all the skill,knowledge,insights,and nerves of a man that has spent 20 years fighting in the field beyond the scope of the normal military. Next I didn't like that the story bounced around between virus story, zombie story, monster story (Resident Evil), to in-animate objects coming to life story. This book was all over the place and many times skills and abilities used in one tight spot were forgotten in another tight spot. Most of all I do not like the near scene by scene rip-off from the movie "Aliens". Having said all this I still believe it warrents being read. I have just bought the novella and I hope this and the upcoming part three to the series will be written with more care than this installment.

Confusing, badly edited and repetitive

I got 5 books from this series when they were free for the kindle. I will not be buying any more. I've read 5 books and while I enjoyed the first 2, they are fast going down hill. The plot is repetitive; save Maria, find shelter, and no progress is ever made. The characters keep having the same arguments and making the same bad decisions again and again. The sentence structure is awful with words missing or misplaced as well as lots of wrong word choices (passed instead of past, they're instead of their). It is also confusing trying to figure out which book goes first. Chronologically speaking, it seems like "Villains of the Apocalypse" should be first. It appears to follow the scientists as they are creating the OZ "zombie" virus. The Secret Journal has a part 1 and 2 while the other books are numbered 1 through 4. Maybe the author wrote a prequel and found out they were addictive and just kept writing one more prequel? It doesn't help when most of the books start with a scene and then go back to tell you how they got in this sticky situation.

The description on Amazon is a bit vague. Here's another one.

Three scientists have developed a virus intended for use as a weapon. They are testing it on various groups that no one should really miss (refugees, terrorists and people smugglers for example). There is a containment breach in the Australian Outback and in a short period of time, the country is overrun with zombies. A media blackout meant to control panic and prevent the story from getting out also keeps most of the world ignorant of the disaster. Most of the story is told from Rebecca's point of view, she is an average 16 yr old girl. Other main characters are: Maria Marsh (another teen with an immunity to the virus), Jack (Maria's boyfriend), Kim (Jack's older sister and a police officer in Sydney) and Kenji Yoshido (Rebecca's 19 yr old boyfriend and a marine sniper). The entire focus of the series is getting Maria Marsh out of Australia to the doctors who will hopefully create a cure.

There is a lot of running around Syndey and the Outback trying to escape monsters, looking for transportation, shelter, food and water. You also have religious fanatics sacrificing women and children to the zombies, mutant animals, giant zombies, and rogue nanobots that are animating machinery. I almost forgot, Kenji can see and talk to dead people.

This is such a great story! Super intense, lots of building tension. Surprisingly dry, not gory or bloody, but still scary. The characters are good. Their young ages may direct this book/the series to a high school age audience. There is a problem with missing and misused punctuation and poor grammar. The author's work(s) should be proofed before publishing, even on Kindle format.

Jason Batterson is a curriculum developer at Art of Problem Solving (www.artofproblemsolving.com). From 2008-2010, Batterson taught math and ran the competition program at Ligon Middle School in Raleigh, NC. The school won state MATHCOUNTS championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and has consistently been the top middle school in the state for both the AMC8 and AMC10 competitions. In 2008 he was a recipient of the Edyth May Sliffe Award from the Mathematical Association of America for distinguished teaching in mathematics.

Phenomenal resource for math competition coaches and students

I am a middle school math team coach constantly looking for good material to use with my students, as well as books that can teach me some better ways to work through the problems. This book gives me both, and I am ordering more for my math team because of it. Each concept is organized by larger topic and explained clearly, with practice problems similar to what you would find in a Math Counts or AMC contest. You will learn some new tricks (they were new to me at least) that helps solve problems much more quickly. I recommend it to new coaches who have caught the math competition bug but don't know where to get materials, or even experienced coaches who want another outstanding resource for their library. For someone still trying to learn all of the ins and outs of middle school math contests, this has vaulted into a spot as one of my go-to resources, along with the Art of Problem Solving series and old Math Counts problems.

An Excellent Book!

This is an impressive collection of competition math problems that are explained very well! The book addresses multiple levels of ability and is a wonderful source of interesting mathematics. As a high school math coach of many years I can say that this book is NOT just for Middle School! It's a great high school math book. Math teachers everywhere need to be challenging students to think. "Competition Math for Middle School" is just what they need. I recommend this book to math teachers teaching everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus. Topics in the book include Number Theory, Geometry and Combinatorics. It's a treat!

About the Author

Bill Reger-Nash, EdD, is emeritus professor in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University. He has been a wellness professional for more than 30 years and has served as research coordinator for the Cardiac and Wellness Center of Wheeling Hospital; director of the Bayer Wellness Program in Wellsburg, West Virginia; director of wellness for the Ohio Valley Medical Center; and founding director of wellness for West Virginia University.

Reger-Nash has more than 10 first-author peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work in health promotion throughout the world. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including being named among the 100 best minds by US News & World Report in 2004, the 2006 Ethel and Gerry Heebink Award for Distinguished State Service, and the 1996 Health Advocate of the Year Award presented by the State Health Education Council of West Virginia.

Gregory Juckett, MD, MPH, is a professor of family medicine at West Virginia University, Morgantown, where he provides clinical services for the WVU Health Service and also directs the University’s International Travel Clinic.�He received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine at Hershey and a master’s degree in public health from West Virginia University.�He completed his family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.�Dr. Juckett’s interests include tropical and travel medicine, dermatology, and cross-cultural health care.�In addition, Dr. Juckett has extensive international experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific.

Meredith Smith Ludden, MS, MA, has master’s degrees in sport and exercise psychology and community counseling from West Virginia University. She has worked as a family and marriage therapist as well as a drug and alcohol counselor. She works for the State of New Mexico as a health educator to decrease the burden of chronic disease in the state. She and her husband, Sean, also own and operate a small farm that emphasizes sustainable and organic practices. In addition, Meredith is a certified yoga teacher. Her emphasis has been on whole-body wellness and helping her clients achieve this in the capacity that works for them.

The case of plants and herbs in magic and religion, the contributions of famous herbalists and physicians (notably Hippocrates, Pliny, Dioscorides, Sydenham), famous English and European herbals, medical organization and education in the Middle Ages, and the first British pharmacopoeia, are some of the related events described.
One of the most interesting and informative chapters is the one detailing the medicinal properties of 40 major orders of British wild plants — over 150 plants in all. This book is great! From the first page down it helps you out in easy to follow guides. As you read it you are already getting different ideas for your choreography. It gives you graphics, pictures, info from the simplest thing to the most complex(music, solo, group, idea, etc). Must read for any choreographer out there!
